November saw the RGS' annual Explore expedition and fieldwork symposium. https://www.rgs.org/in-the-field/rgs-explore-festival
Lucky to attend a few events, from the kick off British Exploring Society lecture from Honor Wilson-Fletcher, to a field book and sketching class by Roseann Hanson, to attending and supporting the Saturday sessions. Ending with Steve Boyes enthralling lecture on the Okavango Wilderness Project.
Nice to see Steve Jones of ALE on stage talking about expedition planning - and great to reconnect , having last spoken whilst on the ice in Antarctica in 2008!
Some of the RGS collection were on display including this extract from the South Polar Times, from Scott's Discovery expedition. Fantastic detail!
I thoroughly recommend Explore 2024 if you want to learn more about planning an expedition, meet inspiring people and make contacts or just watch some great lectures!
