Gavin has dragged sleds across 2,000km of Arctic and Antarctic ice; competed in extreme ultra races in the Sahara desert, the jungles of Guadaloupe, winter in Arctic Canada and at altitude in the Mont Blanc Massif.
​
Gavin believes that doing extraordinary things in extreme places gives a balance of perspective, creates a positive attitude and energy across all aspects of life and career. Gavin hopes to provide inspiration to his young family and beyond.

Gavin was awarded MBE in 2011, is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS), Member of Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
​
He has served on committees of the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust for 15 years, and was a Trustee from 2012-2023.
In 2008 Gavin Booth MBE and Adam Wilton MBE completed their British South Pole Expedition, an unsupported ski/foot journey to the Geographic South Pole in 45 days with no resupply. This was a British team record.

Another notable expedition was the 2007 North East Greenland Expedition (an unexplored area of Dronning Louise Land), spending a month travelling on the ice and making 8 first ascents.
