HARDANGERVIDDA, NORWAY 2018

Hardangervidda is the highest mountain plateau in Europe with an average elevation of 1,100 m and covering an area of ca.6,500 km2. At 60° N it is very cold in the dark winter. We completed a South - North ski crosssing in February 2018 as part of the Åsnes Expedition Amundsen Extreme Race, called “the world’s hardest ski competition”. Roald Amundsen himself, nearly died on an expedition in the Hardangervidda in 1896, as preparation for his South Pole expedition in 1911.
